Possibly the most elaborate motor show we have seen in recent years. This years Malaysia Autoshow, taking place from the 22nd – 26th of May from 10am – 10pm, saw the launch of not one or two but SEVERAL new cars and bikes. The media day yesterday saw us spending 12 hours at the show and we still feel like there’s more to see. So we want to help you optimise your time at the show. Which is why we have come up with the top 10 must see attractions at this years Malaysia Autoshow.

1. Proton’s S70 racecar

We knew this was an eventuality, but to see one in the flesh gave us a different kind of goosebump. We knew this chassis was awesome, but to see it in the flesh was something else. As some of our colleagues and us believe, it could see the rise in the tuning trend for Proton’s hottest selling sedan. Plus we cant wait to see this car set loose on Sepang.

2. Perodua’s EV

Perodua’s barely spending anything on marketing these days, and why should they their cars are selling like hot cakes. Like the Alza we had recently tested is a genuinely good product for its segment. But it’s their EV that caught our attention, where they are promising to maintain the value of their EV. This alleged ecosystem is what we are interested in, it will be good to watch this space.

3. New petrol powered 5 series and GS

BMW had a busy booth this time, launching several cars and bikes at the same time, including the all new Mini Cooper and Countryman. But the highlight for us is the return of the petrol powered 5 series in the form of the 520i. While our initial post on this car attracted mixed reviews, we have a feeling that this would be a top seller for BMW this year.

On the two wheel side the gold standard of adventure bikes, the BMW GS1300 saw its debut. For those who know, there’s nothing more to elaborate here, cause you know how significant this bike is.

4. Tesla Light Show

The MASSIVE Cybertruck takes centre stage, along with the entire range of Tesla vehicles that are available for the Malaysian market. But what’s cool is the light show that’s programmed to automatically take place every hour at the event. This is something that’s worth checking out.

5. GAC’s new RM119.8k EV

Sitting under the Tan Chong group, the GAC Brand’s Aion Y is an EV which we feel has tremendous potential. Their claim is the bulletproof magazine battery tech. But its the packaging of the vehicle with its fully flat folding seats and genuinely practical price tag, performance and range that we feel would make this a strong contender. The interior seats can fold completely flat which will make your recharging time a whole lot more productive.

6. Citroen’s return

Its a name that started off with a bang just to end abruptly. But now its back and its slated to be better than ever. The Citroen C3 Aircross should be making its return to the Malaysian market soon. Also present there was a cool little off road buggy. Its electric powered with light bars and all terrain tires. But more importantly there’s a MANUAL HANDBRAKE. How much fun is it going to be on muddy fields?

7. Peugeot’s Landtrek off road experience

Speaking of Mud, you have an off road experience using the Peugeot Landtrek. Peugeot Malaysia actually constructed a purpose built track to show what the Landtrek can actually do. This is something we encourage everyone to experience, to know what a pickup truck can actually do straight from the showroom floor.

@route_hunters_malaysia One of the experiences you have at the @Malaysia Autoshow (22-26 May at MAEPS Serdang) this year is an off road ride with the @Peugeot #Landtrek pickup. Heres what you have in store! #peugeot #landtrek #offroad #malaysia #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fypシ゚viral #fypage #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #pickup ♬ Neon Dreams (Two AM Music) - Adriane Palikat

8. Royal Enfield’s showcase

Two of the most anticipated products from Royal Enfield is showcased here. The Shotgun 650 will be officially launched tomorrow but its already on display in a hidden room in one of the halls. But walk along the display area and you will get your second surprise. Royal Enfield has also decided to preview the Himalayan 450 at the show. This bike is getting rave reviews online from all over the world, cant wait to experience it on our back roads.

9. Tobbacco coloured Harley

Harley Davidson’s Tobacco Fade lineup features their top of the range bikes in a reddish brown paint job which looks absolutely stunning. Everything from the Lowrider ST, to the Street Glides are all there with this paint schemes. If you’re a Harley fan, dont miss this.

10. Bike’s from the MForce

They have taken an entire hall and all the bikes might seem similar to you. This is because MForce you have Benelli, Brixton, SYM, WMoto, QJMotor and many more. These bikes look and sometimes feature hardware from other brands from Europe and Japan, without the premium price tag. The one that caught our attention was the QJMotor sports bike that, allegedly, features the mechanicals from an MV Augusta.

Here’s our pick of what you can do at this years Malaysia Autoshow. Stay tuned for more content over the next few days from the show and have a good time once you’re there!
