C-segment cars is a crowded segment in Malaysia. We have cars from different continents of the world ranging from cars like the Proton Preve from Malaysia, to the Honda Civic from Japan, and the Volkswagen Jetta from Germany. In order for the Korea to grab a piece of this pie, Hyundai launched their latest facelift Elantra on to our local market on the 19th April 2019.
Exterior
What’s new in the facelifted car? For starters, Hyundai have removed the 1.6 turbo variant from the lineup. On the exterior, the length of the Elantra has been increase by 70mm while maintaining the same wheelbase of the pre-facelift model. Other new upgrades that are featured on the facelift model are new triangular headlights, tail lights and rear fog lights as well as a new front radiator grill that looks sportier. Other exterior upgrades include a two-tone rear bumper and the repositioned license plate holder. The facelift Elantra also gets a new 17-inch rim design wrapped with 215/45 tyres around it.
Interior
The cabin of the facelift Elantra has added a few new touches which include a new sporty chequred meter cluster design, a newly designed steering wheel, new plush leather seats and a new soft touch material for the dashboard.
Engine
The facelift Elantra is fitted with the tried and tested 2.0L engine and 6 speed gearbox that delivers 152PS at 6,200rpm and 192Nm of torque at 4,000rpm that you can find in the pre-facelift car. To improve the drivability of the Elantra, Hyundai equipped the car with a new Smart Drive Mode intelligent system that will detect your driving style and automatically selects the driving mode to suit you.
Electronics
The convenience, safety and comfort front of the Elantra includes a host of advanced features which includes a multimedia system that comes standard with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, a segment-exclusive Hands-free Smart Trunk, a six airbag system along with Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Traction Control, ABS, a rear-view camera, Parking Guidance System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Hill-start Assist Control.
Price and Colours
On the launch, Elantra will be available in 5 different colors choices namely Phantom Black, Fiery Red, Teal Blue, Fluid Metal and Polar White. Apart from the 5 colors, 2 limited edition colors such as Stargazing Blue and Sparkling metal are available for a limited time in conjunction with the launch.
