The price list is finally here, we now know that the X50 is priced from RM79,200 to RM103,300. But what do you get and dont get for every variant? We have a copy of the X50’s brochure. Based on this, here are 12 things you need to know about the X50 and its variants.
1. There are 4 variants
The most obvious one is that the X50 will be available in Standard, Executive, Premium and Flagship variants
2. All of them get 1.5 turbo engines and 7 speed DCT gearboxes
Except for the Flagship which gets a direct injection unit with more power (177 vs 150PS) and torque (255 vs 226Nm) than the standard port injected 1.5. All variants are front wheel drive
3. There are two wheel sizes
The Standard and Executive have 17 inch rims with 215/60r17 tyres and the Premium and Flagship get 215/55r18 tyres
4. Headlamps are same across the range
The headlamps and DRL’s are LED’s across the range, we have to wait and see if the design remains the same. The Standard variant does not get auto headlamps or foglamps.
5. Two type of instrument clusters
Full color LCD instrument clusters are reserved for the Flagship and Premium cars, while the Executive and Standard cars get analog dials.
6. Powered seats for Flagship and Premium only
While the other two do not enjoy the 6 way powered seats. You still get leatherette trim for the Executive spec car, while the Standard has to make do with Fabric seats and Urethane steering trim.
7. N95 cabin filter standard across the range
So every X50 customer can enjoy clean air within it. Rear aircon vents are also standard, with Automatic Climate Control reserved for the top 2 specs.
8. Different infotainment systems
The Flagship and Premium cars get the full 10.25 inch touchscreen, while the Executive and Standard spec cars get 8 inch touchscreens. You still get all the apps and 4G connectivity with WiFi in all variants. However the Standard and Executives come with only 4 speaker systems.
9. Proton LINK App
This remote control app is only reversed for the Premium and Flagship variant cars. The Executive and Standard cars do not come with them. You still get 3 USB ports (1 data, 2 charging) in all variants.
10. Driving Aids are standard across the range
Everything from ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Brake Hold, ESC, Traction Control, and even Hill Descent control is standard across the range.
11. ADAS only for Flagship
The autonomous driving features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind sport monitoring and auto parking are reserved only for the Flagship variant. The Premium does get Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
12. Limited Airbags and Parking Sensors
The Standard only come with 4 airbags, while the Executive, Premium and Flagship variants come with 6 airbags. You do not also get front parking sensors for the Standard variant. 360 degree cams reserved for the top two specs while the Standard and Executive cars enjoy a reverse camera.
Other features standard across the variants include Drive Mode Selection, Cruise control, Steering Mode Selection, and Remote engine start. The Standard variant car is priced at RM79,200, Executive at RM84,800, Premium at RM93,200 and the Flagship with the direct injection engine is priced at RM103,300. For the first 30,000 bookings before 31st December 2020, you get 5 times free labor for service maintenance, 5 year warranty, 5 year free data package for the onboard wifi and 2.22% interest rate.
