As you can see, the winners are quite varied with only a few automakers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Proton claiming multiple categories. This is a testament to the taste of the prospective Malaysian buyer as these vehicles were rated on areas such as offerings, design, driving feel and of course value for money.

The highlight is of course the Overall Car of the Year award which went to the Proton X70 which is a huge win for the national carmaker. Proton’s CEO Dr. Li Chunrong also happened to be voted as the Automotive Man of the Year for his leadership and contribution in turning Proton around which undoubtedly has played a role in the X70 winning big in the Malaysian automotive space as well.

What do you think about the winners of the categories? Are there other cars which you would place there instead? What is the Malaysian Car of the Year in your opinion? We’d love to hear your opinion.
