5 Things You Might Not Know About the All-New Aston Martin DBX

With the controversial and eye-catching release of the Aston Martin DBX in 2019, here are 5 surprising things you might not have known.

1. DBX, the first of it’s name!

The Aston Martin DBX is the first SUV of the proud luxury British automaker in its 106 years of history. Coming from an automaker famous for sports cars, racing and of course 007 , an SUV might sound odd, but looking at it’s rivals from Lamborghini, Maserati and Rolls-Royce, they might be on to something here.

2. It is the 4th car released since Aston Martins Second Century Plan.

Since Aston Martin is focused on realigning their offerings and business plans, it is safe to say that the DBX represents what the company feels their buyers desire. With the rise in demand of SUVs, perhaps an Aston Martin badge on a large continental performance SUV might be where things are headed. It is clear however that there is a lot riding on the DBX’s strong shoulders.

3. Despite it’s size, performance is still the name of the game.

Underneath the hood of the DBX, sits a Mercedes AMG 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine as well as the entire electronics setup is shared with Mercedes as well. One might scoff, but in this segment it can be argued that few other automakers know how to do it better. With a kerb weight 2,245kg, the DBX has 542 HP and 700nm of torque which propels it from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds.

4. Practical, really.

The Aston Martin DBX has a 632 litres of boot space with 40:20:40 split folding rear seats which puts it as a class leader for interior boot space. To put this into perspective the Porsche Macan has only 500 litres of boot space, the Lamborghini Urus has 616 litres and the Maserati Levante has 580 litres. This puts the DBX litres ahead of it’s competition in terms of practicality.

5. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

The female advisory board of Aston Martin played a very pivotal role in placements of items in the interior, armrests, spaces and placement of key control systems. By feedback as well as input from private focus groups worldwide, this has made the Aston Martin DBX a very pleasant and functional place to sit in.

With so many automakers threading into unheard of territory, what do you think about the Aston Martin DBX and it’s rivals? Is a luxury performance SUV something you’d like to see in your driveway? Drop us a comment and let us know, we’d love to hear from you.
