BMW Malaysia has finally released the all new BMW X4 , declaring it as an “SAC”, which stands for “Sports Activity Vehicle”. So how has the change of title affected the overall package of the X4 and is it worth to spend on? Let’s go through 4 reasons on why the X4 is a worthy and versatile vehicle.
Ground-breaking design language.
As we can see, the new X4 offers Adaptive LED Headlights with a high beam assist, a slightly longer bonnet, an updated cope style roofline to reduce the coefficient of drag. The most striking feature is its rear tail lamp design that’s a lot cleaner than the outgoing car. Adding on items like the acoustic fitted glass windshield, its contributed a great deal towards noise reduction. Yes these features were not available on the previous model, so we can see that BMW has definitely upped the ante here. What are your thoughts on the current X4’s outlook? Updated Powertrain and Performance
The all new BMW X4 is powered by a 2.0L 4 cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine generating a whopping 252bhp, which is 7bhp more than the previous generation and 350Nm of torque. It’s also 41bhp more than the Mercedes Benz GLC300 Coupe AMG Line. That entire grunt is put down via an 8 speed automatic gearbox.
That gives a 0-100kph time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 240kph, with a combined fuel efficiency of 7.8l/100kms. That makes it faster than the GLC300 Coupe AMG Line (236kph) and the previous generation X4 (232kph).
Chassis, layout and extra features:
The new and improved chassis sports a higher content of lighter aluminium and higher strength steel components. This aids in overall rigidity and safety of the vehicle. With features like variable sports steering, BMW’s X-Drive 4-wheel-drive with electronic differential lock, the X4’s handling prowess is assured. Other new features include adaptive steering, hill descent control and many more.
Let’s take a step inside:
When compared to the previous X4, the interior of the all new X4 is miles ahead. There are new features such as electroplated trims and controls, 10.25 inch infotainment system complete with BMW Connected Drive, an updated 12.3 inch high resolution meter cluster, and of course, a voice control system. The Connected Drive system is above and beyond what every other rivals in its class can offer, which we can focus on more in a full review of the vehicle.
Furthermore, there’s the Tacora Red Vernasca leather upholstery, an upholstery only found on flagship BMW models, a Panorama sunroof in case you love a glimpse of natural lighting. And for you audiophiles, a 16 speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Conclusion.
We can definitely conclude that the new BMW X4 has improved tremendously over the previous model. For a price of RM364,800 it’s cheaper than its closest rival, the GLC300 AMG Line Coupe, which makes it a compelling option for the segment. So what do you guys think?
