When the Route Hunters team attended the launch of the new Triton in 1 Utama earlier this year we could not help but wonder if the Triton has gone a little style centric and traded off its ruggedness for some mass appeal refinement. We were proven wrong today.
We were invited to the Mistubishi 4Sure Thrill Event to see just how tough the new Triton is. With 2 time Dakar winner Hiroshi Masuoka and Malaysian Motorsports Athlete Leona Chin taking the wheel, members of the media were given high speed taxi laps on a specially prepared course.
What unfolded was a very graphic and adrenaline fueled demo of what types of abuse the new Mitsubishi Triton can actually take in stock form, even with an Automatic transmission. The opening jump and the driver’s reluctance to slow down for each run shows what type of repeated abuse the car can actually take.
