Because during the drag race, the car that they pitted the S70 against were the Honda City and Toyota Vios. When asked why set it against cars from the B segment, the organising team said that they were similarly priced compared to the S70. Still a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder with a turbocharger. But it does not come with the direct injection technology that you see in the X70 and X50. As a result, you get only 150bhp and 226Nm. The torque figure is vital as its 6Nm more than the Civic ‘Ketam’, but 14Nm down from the current Civic FE. There are some updates to the transmission, and with the noticeably lighter bodyweight, it did provide a more spirited acceleration feel compared to the crossover X50. Dare we say it felt more punchy off the line from the Mazda 3.     Further refinements have been made to the gearbox to make it more responsive apparently and as usual, the ride and handling has been tweaked to work on our roads. That’s 1.2 million km of road testing and 72,000 man hours<\/strong>. Which works out to be 682 times going around Peninsular Malaysia (Penang – JB – Kuantan – Kota Bharu – Penang) in distance, or 24 years of 8 hour work days<\/strong> in man hours.
