The Type R Predicament <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it has almost\nbeen two years since the FK8 Civic Type R has hit our shores and we could all\ndefinitely agree on the fact that it has achieved a cult following status quite\nquickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However there\u2019s\nno denying that this car has split opinions about it amongst motoring\nenthusiasts, even among the Type R fans. What one can\u2019t deny though is that\nthis car has clocked a Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 43.8 seconds,\nwhich is faster than some established performance cars, and that\u2019s a fact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless which\ncamp you stand in though, the Type R never fails to gain attention. If you feel\nthat it\u2019s a shrinking violet, you will be very pleased to know that there\u2019s a\nnew version called the FK8 Type R Mugen Concept. It was seen at Tokyo Auto\nSalon earlier this year, and lucky for us Malaysians, the Type R Mugen Concept is\nnow on display at MAEPS Serdang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On The Outside<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Majority of the\ncar community feels as if the original FK8 has already been overdone in terms\nof its design language, and Mugen has just upped the ante for this version. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For starters, the\nexterior parts of the car now comes with a carbon grille garnish, front lip\nspoiler, carbon coated side mirrors, rear under spoiler, and side garnishes. Aside\nfrom looking exotic, the carbon finished parts aid in terms of weight savings.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have also\nupdated the layout of the LED tail lamps which gives it a rather bespoke look\nalongside its new updated rim design. And what a rim design it is, its probably\nthe first thing you will notice when you set eyes on the Mugen Concept Type R.\nThose multi-spoke 20 inch rims are truly the highlight of the Mugen makeover.\nAs for its appeal, we let you decide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we hop inside,\nwe get more new goodies as well such as the MUGEN spec steering wheel, leather\ngear knob as opposed to the aluminium gear knob in the standard FK8. Other\nminor changes would include the sports mat and the scuff plate of course. As of\nnow,  Honda Malaysia has not released any\npricing yet, or if it ever be available for sale. As of now we can only hope. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
