Moda Moca 110 - Under RM4k price tag and possibly lighter than you?

If you’re a 108kg, 6ft 2 Malaysian Indian, then yes this retro looking cutesy scooter is lighter than you, and it does look hilarious. However for the ridiculous price tag of only RM3988, this 110cc, 89kg Moda Moca scooter could well be the practical tool every house / apartment needs in Malaysia.

On the outside

It looks like the Vespa’s of old. Today’s Vespa scooters cost nearly 10 times more and a totally different machine next to the Moca. But this little cutey brings the classic old school looks, especially with the flat footboard and the C50 style fairing. Reminded me of the time i rode with my grandfather to school when i was in Standard 1.

Under the skin

Peel back that retro cutesy styling, is a robust 108cc SOHC air cooled 4 stroke engine, putting out 8hp and 8.5Nm. Of course power is sent via a CVT gearbox, with a 4.8L fuel tank. You get a lovely LCD screen that lays out everything. Upfront theres a disc brake system with drums at the back.

Who needs a 89kg scooter?

Absolutely everyone. Those quick dash towards the local ATM, 99 Speedmart or 7-Eleven? This scooter is absolutely perfect for it. Its much faster and substantial compared to the E scooters that we see these days, and has a relatively higher top speed than the likes of the Blueshark EV scooter. Unlike the Blueshark though, you can fuel it up at a regular fuel pump so if you do have to ride into the city you dont have suffer from range anxiety.

Since its super light, its so easy to move it in and out of tight spaces. Even for the dainty figured and the elderly. All you need is a top box, or a bag and you’re sorted. Its not too suitable for cross Klang Valley commutes, especially if you’re of the more generously proportioned. But for around the neighbourhood commutes and quick dashes, not many come close.

In Conclusion

We have been toying with this scooter for the past few weeks. We never tire of it and its become genuinely practical for daily usage. More so than we imagined. Especially since its cheaper than an Iphone 17 Pro Max by nearly RM2000. In that respect, this Moda Moca is mad value, without being seen as a cheap choice.
