AVETA VTM 250, the newest two wheel ‘toys’ to hit Malaysia

A bike we were really looking forward to test, the AVETA VTM 250 made its Malaysian debut on the 9th of October in two trims. The LX variant is priced at RM12,877 and the M variant is priced at RM13,388. Here’s what you need to know about the AVETA VTM 250.

What is the VTM 250?

Its a dual purpose bike from AVETA featuring a single cylinder 250 cc oil-cooled 4 stroke engine. Power is sent to the driven wheel via a 6 speed transmission. The single cam 2 valve engine puts out 18hp at 8500rpm and 18Nm at 6500rpm. This robust powertrain is mated to a semi double cradle chassis with upside down forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the back.

The LX and M variants

The LX variant is designed to be a trail bike, with 305mm of ground clearance. This is courtesy of the 21 inch front and 18 inch off road biased tyres front and rear. The more road tuned M variant has 17 inch road biased tyres front and rear. All variants come with disc brakes front and rear, with front ABS available for the M variant bikes.

Other features

Its a relatively light bike weighing 125kg. It comes with an 8 litre fuel tank which would not be too great in terms of inter city riding range. But would be perfect for trail riding. The bike comes with a digital meter cluster, with a fuel gauge, rpm gauge, and a gear indicator inbuilt in it.

Conclusion

On paper the AVETA VTM 250 seems like a super fun package designed specifically for trail biking. But on how it behaves on the actual respective habitats for the LX and M variants, we will only know upon test riding them. The M variant especially intrigues us with its generous suspension travel. With its oil cooled 250 cc thumper commuting in our urban environments would be a hoot, and the bikes stand out styling will sure turn heads. Plus the RM13,400 ish price tag should sweeten the deal. Again, the final piece of the puzzle will be the way it actually behaves on the road.
